We are going to have over 500 people at my sister’s wedding and there are tables of 10.
For each table we want the centrepiece decorations but we want to make them ourselves.
Are there any ideas, websites etc. to offer help and affordable ways to make them?
Care to share whats so funny?
Oh um…theme? We lack that lol. This is a south asian wedding so we dont really do themes.
And the table cloth is off white and the napkins are to match my sister’s wedding dress; they are burgundy/maroon.

I love this kind of stuff! what are the colors/themes?
Cheap candles
Fake flowers
Candies
I wanted fresh flowers on the tables at my reception – and we thought it would be too expensive. BUT we actually went to albertsons and they ordered us 12 dozens of pink roses (that was our color) for about $7 per dozen, then we bought a couple of bundles of daisy and tossed those in the arrangements too. then we found the cutest vases at “DollarTree” so all together it cost about $10 per table and everyone thought it was gorgeous and thought we spent a lot more than we did.
my wedding tables had homegrown asparagus fern branches laid flat and my parents went to a flower wholesaler (early morning) two days before the wedding and bought the stuff the florists wouldn’t buy in the wedding colors (lavendar/peach) and floated them in decorative bowls in the center of the table, on the fern. Very pretty, home made, and easy. You can probably rent medium size “silver” bowls from whomever you are renting the chairs/tables.
You can make beautiful centerpieces with nothing more than greenery from your gardens and bows. Take small cuttings and let them sit to see how long it takes before they wither. This way you know how far in advance you can make the centerpieces.
Buy the ribbons and silver and or white Christmas balls in after Christmas sales. The plastic ones are the cheapest. Buy different sizes and textures (Some shiny silver, some frosted etc..;.)
When you have it all make swags using thin wire and balls and cuttings. If you can afford it, buy some baby’s breath to mix in with the greenery.
You can also buy Christmas swags after Christmas and change the balls out (Just put the silver and white where the red and green and gold ones are!) Then change the holly out with baby’s breath.
E-mail me if you need more help.
Good Luck! I hope your sister has a great wedding!
We bought little fish bowls and the little bags of pearly marbled stones for a dollar apiece at the dollar store, put a 7 cent gold fish in each. The colors go with anything and the goldfish are great little gifts for the little ones that come to the wedding. Throw some glittery confetti around them and set up some nut dishes made with lace hot glue and clear plastic disposable dishes and the bowls magnify and distort things around them just enough to make it pretty. Good luck, congratulations and God Bless!
SOME CENTRE PIECES FOR $10 OR LESS
Deep saucers filled with water, pebbles, petals and floating candles.
Wine glasses with colored pebbles and bamboo clippings
Tall vases with pebbles, water and fresh flowers
Wine glasses filled with lace/organza/lace pouches of sweets(almonds, mints, chocolates-etc)
THERE ARE ANY AMOUNT OF IDEAS, ONLY NEED BRAINSTORMING, GOOD LUCK
DIY centerpieces can actually be nicer then ones you buy, if you have a good eye.
Personally, I’m not one for flowers. They are too expensive too. I love candle centerpieces.
You can do a lot with burgundy/wine/red colors this time of year. The store is full of decor items for Christmas, that you can easily turn into fun centerpieces.
I would use pillar candles and put them inside glass vases/candle holders. You could fill the bottoms of the vases/candle holders w/ colored glass stones(available online and at craft stores). Then, I would buy either tea lights or votive in different, yet matching shades of red/burgundy/wine. Place those candles around the main pillar candle.
It’s simple, yet cheap and classy.
You can get pillar candles for as cheap as $1.99. If the wedding is after the holiday season, I would wait to buy. All the red candles you see in the stores will be 50% off.
The vases can be tricky to find. I’ve seen nice ones at Pier 1, but they can be expensive. However, sometimes they do have sales and you’ll be surprised at how cheap they can be. Also, try Walmart or Target.
Well, hoped this helped. Have fun.
Large glass bowls with glass peices in the bottom, floating candles with gold fish in them. theyre like 11 cents and it looks really cool
Spray burgundy red stiff paper gold but letting the burgundy showthrough or buy stiff paper that is gold on at least one side then spray the other side gold then cut the paper into different sized butterflies folding the butterflies so that the middle body part of the butterfly stays flat. Use three models to trace around so as to get the most butterflies from your paper. Buy a couple of small glue guns and one Glade candle (try to buy them wholsale-vanilla would probably be the best color)per table and peel off the labels (easy)Put a stack of small plates in the center of each table and cover with two burgundy napkins so that the 8 corners are showing…This is to elevate the candles a bit- glue one or two smaller butterflies on the candle glasses and place other butterflies around the central part and on the table cloth …. you have to glu a flat paperclip (or something else) to weight the body part of each butterfly so that they stay posed right.. just a drop of glue is enough.
For my wedding we used the favors as the center peices. I took white ‘lunch’ type bags, folded down the top and added a ribbon handle. Then I hotglued a silk flower to the front. inside I put a candle, a matchbook with our names on it and some candy. I alternated them on the tables with luminaries made out of the same bags. For those, I folded down the same bags, put some sand in the bottom and a candle. The tables were beautiful after it got dark.
Go to a craft store and get some bigger candles and some glitter to place on the table. I would also place a disposable camera on each table so you have plenty of pics.
CANDLES!

or you may also buy tea light candles and have them float over water (buy something to hold the water) and have each table with 3 candles or 5
Candles of varying heights on a plate. Candles are very inexpensive (compared to flowers) and look just as elegant.
